i had to watch a bunch of it for a thing - what was most surprising to me was how poorly animated it is. i suppose i've been spoiled by Pixar's expressive characterizations, but i found the characters to be poorly 'acted'.

i agree with this assessment. i think in this case, Nigel Godrich's production ear is too sterile to capture the true essence of the album. Live, it absolutely rips - the studio recordings are far too clean and mannered.
