Twitch City is AWESOME. My favorite episode (and the first one I ever saw) is The Planet of the Cats. I bought the series on DVD the second it came out. Great stuff.

Although I thought Pan's Labyrinth should have won Best Foreign Language Film in 2006, I did enjoy that year's winner, The Lives of Others, when I finally got around to watching it.

Personally, I like a variation on the first one you mentioned. Instead of "Sloppy Joe Vs. the Volcanos", make it "Sloppy Joe Vs. the Potato" (or potatoes).

Movies better than the books:

I love the Rush Hour movies (the first two more than the third, but even that had its moments). I also enjoyed Shanghai Noon. Shanghai Knights, not so much.

What a bummer :( Practically the only time I actually read the Onion is when I pick up the print edition in L.A. I don't know why; it just works out that way. Alas! I'll have to tear myself away from the A.V. Club online sometimes to read the Onion online.

Ditto, jennn.

I loved Millenium Actress and could not stop crying when it ended. The intense yearning really got to me.

Paprika is awesome. I bought the DVD as soon as it came out. That song is The Girl in Byakkoya. It's great!

Top 5 things wrong with The Spirit: 1) Samuel L. Jackson, 2) Scarlett Johansson, 3) Stana Katic, 4) the script, 5) the direction. Poor Gabriel Macht, he just can't catch a break.

My roommate and I just suffered through The Spirit Sunday night. As I recall, the reason there is a foot with a head growing out of it is that it was "a mistake", a science experiment gone wrong. I forget why. I'm trying to forget I ever watched it.

I did not enjoy Synechdoche, NY. I think a different director and lots of editing would have helped immensely. Jon Brion's score is great, particularly the gorgeous song Little Person, which makes me want to cry every time I hear it.

Albtraum, your Efron comment makes me laugh out loud every time I read it. Seriously, it's one of the funniest things I've ever read.

Nice!

no No NO! I am *very* upset. I love Kings.

I concur on Paul Rudd's dreaminess, but Zac Efron gives me the creeps.

@Chubby Chasee - I love 13 Going on 30. I think it's sweet, sad and funny. The Thriller scene in the club is hilarious.

I have to say I really enjoy ZMF's comments. He reminds me a bit of a guy who used to be on Playhouse aka Dreamscape BBS and went by the name of WOO IN BOOTS and would nearly always type in all caps and had a unique sensibility and people were constantly trying to imitate him, but there was only one WOO, just as

@Moles - I can't tell you how happy it made me to see an Electric Dreams reference.

I had a friend who listed his favorite book as Ball Four in his profile. I ordered it from the library, went to pick it up, and groaned when I looked at it, because I was not into sports at all and I didn't make the connection between the title and the subject matter. I read it because I was determined to read my
