Beam doesn't think I'd be fun at his parties!

Jesus, it's like you're threatening me with a pistol aimed backwards.

A.   It is not 'living in the past' to recognize that there has long been a power—and representation—gap between the races in mainstream entertainment.  It is neither uncritically PC nor a double standard to be especially sensitive to racially charged humor when it is directed at a group that has historically been

Yes, because whites have been unrepresented in TV and film for generations, or at best had to settle for stereotypical misrepresentation at the hands of a racial majority that wielded all the power in mainstream media for centuries.

'The Shield' better than The Sopranos?  The finale was a 'joke and a disgrace'??

This is ridiculous.  Obviously, Hank wasn't just a 'white hat' good guy with no flaws— he was monomaniacal about taking Walt down, which was a flaw in both his character and his strategy.  BUT…

PREDICTION, BITCHES:

this episode deserves a B+., and the season premiere deserves a B.   This episode actually felt like it was deepening the characters, instead of just doing fan service/ moving plot pieces.  Also, I LOVED how Van Alden was passively trying to shush people during the riot, until he caught a sock in the face, and then

'You bleWWW IIT!' **

Linda Fiorentino is pure dark sex.  Annette Bening is incredible in 'Grifters', but Fiorentino holds the all-time heavyweight belt for femme fatale.  Every time she appears, it's hard to think of someone you WOULDN'T murder to get to her.

I'm gonna activate your dental plan!

That Wheat Thins bit may be the greatest single thing Colbert has ever done (besides publicly humiliate George W. Bush).

Or in the immortal words of Jimmy from 'Road House':

Actually the best Vonnegut-related F-Bomb is from 'Back to School.'

No love for 'Planes, Trains, and Automobiles'?   When the lady at the car rental desk patiently listens to Steve Martin's epic 5 minute F-Bomb parade only to reply with a simple:

You said it.  The part where he calls JGL's story 'far-fetched'…  Uh, is that an IMAGINARY BULLET IN THE SPINE OF THE POLICE COMMISSIONER??…really moves that movie into a whole new dimension of stupid.

I appreciate 'Kingdom Come' as a critique of the terrible, thoughtless 'grim n' gritty' superheroes who seem to mostly just fight each other and have pretty much given up everything that was once aspirational and selfless about old-fashioned heroism.  But as an actual storytelling device, it's pretty hard to justify

Bingo, you're talking about Dennis and Terry's talking about Frank.

To be fair, I never leveled that complaint against BB.  In fact, I thought one of the best episodes was the one in which Jesse spent the whole day with the tweaker family,  which had very little to do with plot and everything with establishing the real moral implications of the business he was in.  And I do think BB
