*Dany  goes in for the hug; Jorah looks thrilled/ashamed/constipated*

I'm never the most observant movie watcher. So when I noticed all the WoK flashbacks, you know that was straight-up clunky writing. Especially the tribble.

He wanted to be like one Ben Sisko. It's okay, we all would like to be as cool.

@avclub-945ba977c27d196cdeaf6cbe4ff682f4:disqus I have to say, until they screwed it all up, the Andorians' storyline was one of my very favorites. I just felt for everyone, and poor Shar. But again, they've screwed it up- why did you reintroduce him just to sideline him again? "So, coming back to Starfleet?" "No, but

Honestly, I keep pimping the DS9 Relaunch books, and this is why- before they go off the rails (and they do, epically) the stakes aren't that high. There are big events scattered through, but also, small personal moments that take a lot away from how the series was. There were some developments that I actively cheered

How did I miss that? I was around for those days on TWoP (and actually still browse through there- they were my first fannish website and I can't quit it) and yeah. I didn't actually watch ENT, so that probably made the difference.

You just made me really excited, because I'll get to see Armin (and Rene) at my local ST con! Last year, we had Nicole DeBoer and she said the same thing about the cast- they were about their business and as such, weren't jokesters.

Oh god, I was thinking about those Skreeans earlier. Context- I was looking in the mirror, and thought 'at least I'm not as ugly as one of those Skreeans. Ew!'

Yep. In some cases, I haven't seen the episode in question since '05 or so, when they left local syndication. (They actually had a promo when that happened- the same station aired TNG and DS9 new and the 5-a-weeks. They had a 'farewell' on the last run-through.)

I found it really interesting that the sci-fi aspects were almost optional, with technobabble to be filled in by consultants. I would like to see a TOS episode where Kirk grabbed his yeoman on the bridge, however. Bonus points if it was the one that Sisko took the place of in "Trials and Tribbulations".

Sometimes I miss Hawaii so badly sometimes I want to cry. I loved so many things about it, and I didn't mind Waikiki (we stayed at the Embassy Beachwalk, and within a day of arriving my attitude was 'if it can't be walked to, it's not necessary to go there'. I still have anxiety over the traffic jams). Whenever I

@LurkyMcLurkerson:disqus , I was once like you. I shunned okra, thanks to a childhood of being forced to eat it like it was food, in various ways! Steamed, blech! Fried, no! Don't even think of putting it into things, either! But then, I had someone, my friend from Eritrea, who brought food to work

Boringly barnacled waiters? Count me in!

Mojitos yes. Especially when enjoyed outside in the grass, barefoot.

I had someone buy Rumchata from me at work today, that didn't know what Horchata was. I don't even.
In other news, I went to buy wine, and came out empty-handed when I realized I was in a good store and wouldn't find the (Boone's Farm-esque) local wine I was looking for. Ol' Discerning Palate, that's me!

Trike ride!
So I took off, ready to terrorize the neighborhood faithful with my rattly trike. (Seriously, the chain? is all loud. I dunno if I killed it or what. It pedals fine.) I took off on the trail, going past the walkers and runners but getting dusted by other, faster bikers. I'm seriously going to order the gear

I still have scattered books of the Tillerman Cycle and the one with the wheel title? I just read it for the first time a couple of years ago and it was so good. I love Cynthia Voight. I'd totally talk about Dicey if you reread those books.

My knees are permaskinned from childhood climbing, running and falling, roughousing, etc. I had fun growing up.

Both of my nieces were late walkers, but I have to say it was probably our fault- they've grown up in a house with 4 adults, doting on them. If I didn't have my oldest niece in my arms, she was asleep. The youngest one still goes around the room, saying "pick it up" and holding her arms out. She knows the deal.

Whoo! I got to see my favoritest intern ever before she moves across the country to be a big boss at her own store! I'm so stoked and happy and proud! If this is what a mom feels like, I can kinda see where women go for the kid thing.
