Maryland Kid - it's like you've read my mind.

You're so welcome. And I do understand (to the extent that you've expressed it here) what you're feeling. Just know that *you aren't alone.* And if the internet can be used to spread awfulness, it can be used to spread love and comfort, too. I hope you find lots of both in the coming months (from friends and online

Hey, Arby's - I'm so sorry that you feel so shitty right now, and it's totally understandable why you do. I'm Canadian, and as depressing and infuriating as this election has been to watch, it's a lot easier for me to tune to it out than Americans who are living it (though the ramifications of his election will be

@Mrs. Langdon Alger

Is there a way to tag her in my comment?

Yeah, that's part of why I've always had a soft spot for him. He seemed to go off the rails when his mom died, and has been all over the map ever since. Weirdly, there hasn't been much talk in the media about how his behaviour could be mental-health related - everyone just assumed he was an asshole.

This is good news. He's clearly been unwell for a while now, and I'm glad his handlers appear to be putting his health before profits.

I understand your point and I'm sympathetic to your desire to create a more accessible framework for discussion. But two things come to mind here:

Chris Hayes (someone I had never heard of until now, so if he has some horrid, sinister background, I apologize) tweeted: "I don't want a future in which politics is primarily a battle between cosmopolitan finance capitalism and ethno-nationalist backlash." It was the most succinct, accurate summation of the situation

I hear you. I used to be much more vocal about my dislike of Beyoncé, but a friend of mine pointed out to me, about a year ago, something along the lines of what you said: that she catches the most flak for being so visible. And as a Black woman, I felt it was important, even if I have issues with her, to be more

Siiigh…I just want to don black hoodies with him and tear down the system together. And he looks like he smells sooooo good.

Oh hai !! :D

Hey! Another Black woman! Hi! :)

Hi, Mrs. Langdon Alger -
I just wanted to drop you a quick note of thanks for how fiercely you've fought in these comment sections - and to apologize for probably having gotten four dozen notifications that "Not That Jess liked your comment." Sorry!

And he stated it non-confrontationally, no plainly obvious 'coded' messaging insulting women, Black people, immigrants, etc. He's doing alright, this Scientician!

I watched it with my parents on the original telecast and it was just unbelievable. We had to pause it and sort of take it all in. Just breath-taking. So when, a few hours later, I went online to find some discussion about it and found the usual TS fawning, I just sort of lost it. It was too good for that. She's

Ugh! I'm so happy for this site right now for that exact reason. And I'm feeling particularly uncharitable at the moment because when I google "Kendrick Lamar + Grammys", I get as many articles about Taylor Swift winning AotY as I do about his performance and I'm just SO over it. We just witnessed something brilliant

Kendrick Lamar was just on a whole other level tonight - it felt like I witnessed something; bore witness to a moment rather than just watched someone sing something. It seemed absurd (and almost inappropriate) for Swift to go home with AotY in light of what he put out. I mean, I'm by no means an expert, but it felt

Poison - may I steal that?

I just feel so shallow. Like, how could someone else's countenance fill me with such repulsion? Gah..
