Yeah I just realized last night I only have two weeks to get my planned re-read of The Hobbit finished in time for the film, so I'd better get moving too.

If it helps, I'd say The Road and BM are among his bleakest works (having not read his first two novels, Suttree, or the last half of the Border trilogy).

I just read All the Pretty Horses earlier this month and I'm reading The Crossing right now, though it is taking me much longer.  I also re-read No Country For Old Men in between those two, so maybe I overdid it on McCarthy for the month.

1776 is a great read.  Nixonland has been on my to-read list for awhile (and I own a copy already), but it doesn't look like I'll get to it this year.

I feel like for the first episode or two of Rubicon I had a hard time figuring out if the show was taking place in the present day, or sometime in the 1970s because of reasons like this.

Spent last week on vacation in Texas, so instead of reading Suttree I opted to go with the more geographically-appropriate All the Pretty Horses and re-read No Country For Old Men.
