I forget if it was on here or Grantland that a writer admitted a suspicion that Neil's motivation for writing the memoir might have been to promote PureTone/Pono. That's far too cynical a view for me (a usually very cynical person). It makes much more sense in my opinion that he simply keeps rambling about it…

No, not really.

Yet again, Cincinnati and Cleveland can unite in the mutual neglect shown them by the AV Club/rest of the US/world/God.

Still reading Neil Young's Waging Heavy Peace and made a good amount of progress through an account of the Battle of Anzio in WWII. Since I wasn't reading any fiction, I also started Vonnegut's God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater, though I haven't made it very far yet.

Yeah, Mirkwood is my guess too, but considering that Jackson might be throwing a fair amount of material not in the book into the film, it's hard to say for certain. I need to wrap up a couple books I'm currently reading so I can re-read that as well.

I was going to reply about Clash of Kings, but everything I started to type sounded at least vaguely spoiler-y, so all I'll say is keep at it. It's worth it.

Just read "Farewell" and… yeah. That opening scene in the bar is especially dated at this point.
