At least Pennsylvania has some interesting scenery.  Especially in the fall, the trees look beautiful along with the hilly terrain.  That said some of the highways are awful; the Pennsylvania Turnpike is one of the most nerve-wracking stretches of interstate I've ever driven on.

At least we have hills in the southwest portion of Ohio (although the east near WV does get hilly again too).  A good chunk of the state is flat and dull, sad to say.

I just finished Twin Peaks a couple weeks ago as well.  I'd previously only seen a few episodes into Season 2.  I knew some of the spoilers for the second season, including the final episode.  Honestly, if I hadn't known how awesome the finale was supposed to be, I probably wouldn't have made it through those awful…

Yes, Piano Player is worth finishing.  Vonnegut hadn't perfected his style or tone at that point, but it's still a very good read.

Judging from the pictures of the manga posted on that link, it looks like that was part of the initial inspiration for Porco Rosso (the kid looking like a pig for some reason).  Wiki probably says as much, but I didn't bother to look it up.
