It's basically a marketing deal. I figure the assumption is that if the trailer is on a Facebook/Vine/Instagram news feed when it auto plays there's no sound. So you see 3 seconds of explosions and shit, think "Gosh, that looks interesting" and watch the entire thing with the sound on.
