It was the only redeeming scene in the whole mess!

I got sucked into this mess as well w/ Part I - which was bad, but not awful and I wanted to see how it played out.  But Part 2 on the other hand lived up to the F big time: tedious, boring, not scary, and stupid. (I doubt anyone reading this will plan to watch the whole thing but I will put an obligatory *SPOILERS

Does anyone have any predictions as to whether the absence of Alan Ball as showrunner will make for a better or worse True Blood next year?  (Or does it not even matter b/c TB is it's own weird/wild/uneven thing that zig-zags in quality regardless of who's in charge?)

I'm kind of surprised they decided to double down on the fairy presence this year.  The show has demonstrated its ability to drop something like a hot potato when it's not working (see: inbred werepanther rape), yet… it continues.

Clearly he meant Chelsea the receptionist.

The character works when they keep as a former-Viking-badass.  Last season's memory-loss + Sookie-love sucked everything fun and interesting out of him.  This year was a nice bounce back.

I'm kind of surprised Jane Bodehouse survived the extra-townsfolk purge of Hoyt, Coroner Mike and ex-Sherrif Deerborn.  She may be the only sort-of normal person left in that town besides the two other Deputies.

"That train has sailed."  Nicely done, Jason - never change.

Good point about the lack of seeing the characters live their lives.  One of the series' highpoints for me is Lafayette asking "who ordered the cheeseburger with AIDS?" - which wasn't a plot mover but did give a lot of insight into his character.

I enjoy True Blood, but nuance is not it's specialty.  If a supporting character does not have a supernatural background/ability, the writers will have that character take an extreme position or action of some kind to justify his/her existence on the show.
