But, if Android Invasion is the absolute worst, then I'm not complaining. After all, if Android invasion was a Pertwee-era serial, I think it would've been remembered far more fondly.

I know what you mean, but certainly "Tlotoxl" was the monster they were running from in "The Aztecs," and "The Unknown" (i.e. George Cranleigh) in "Black Orchid."

And that's what Holmes was always so good at! He was able to capture the conscience of an entire culture through a couple lines from some characters.

Oh yes, of course! Season 7 always feels like the whole thing was Sherwin, forgetting the details of Inferno.

Absolutely! Hinchcliffe-Holmes! What a duo! Dare I say unmatched before and since!

An interesting thought. I can't even begin to imagine how that might've looked like. Except for "Faceless Ones," none of his stuff strikes me as particularly something in line with the Hinchcliffe/Holmes velvety horror elements.

And best of all? The plot of "Survival" actually makes sense!

I'd like to see a write-up of the [insert pejorative adjective] or [insert complimentary adjective] "Happiness Patrol."

Scarves indoors? Check. Take lots of things off at customs? Check… Oh dear…

That's Williams/Adams, but yes… end of era tiredness.

Meh… I'm okay with politely ignoring large swaths of 80s Who.

The exception being, of course, the ever fantastic and brilliant pairing of Hinchcliffe/Holmes. The "poorest" serial I can think of for season 14 is "Hand of Fear," maybe, but even that one is quite superb.

And no mention of the really quite excellent Delaware version of the theme tune? ;) Or did they change that for the DVD release? My VHS still has the Delaware version for one of the episodes.

For some reason the carnies' costumes never bother me. I don't know why or if that says something about my fashion sense…

Yes, "Invasion of the Dinosaurs" is so very odd. It feels interminably lazy, shoddily executed, as if it were done by a team ready to move on. Oh wait…

Oh I agree absolutely. I feel like "Carnival of Monsters" displays the Letts/Dicks team firing on all cylinders, getting everything crackingly right in a more traditional Dr. Who way (i.e. no UNIT, no exile). As you said, "Inferno" and "Silurians" are good, but those were more what they inherited from Sherwin

They did, indeed, get back on track with "Image of the Fendahl," and we got our first taste of good, proper Graham Williams with "The Sun Makers," but then we got "Underworld" and "The Invasion of Time." Oh dear…

I always recommend something from the run of episodes starting with "The Ark in Space" all the way through to "Horror of Fang Rock." But, I'm horribly inclined towards this era of Dr. Who over any other.

Yes, belief is the wrong word. If it might've been worded as, "It is better to know the facts," rather than, "It is better to believe in science," we may not be having this discussion.

My Dr. Who collection is sacrosanct. I've still got all the original VHS releases, and now my shelves are slowly filling up with the DVD releases. Both collections will follow me all the way to the grave.
