Yeah, there's lots of stuff like that (5 and Susan).  But, "Five Doctors" is just a fun romp through the show's memories that criticizing it feels like showing up for Christmas and behaving like Scrooge.

While there is lot to love in "End of Time," there's lots to hate: a selfish Doctor ("I could've done so much more!"), everyone is the Master (er… okay…), that horrible, self-ingratiating "farewell to the Tennant" era that Logopolis did so much better in far less time, a tinge of racism (let's just put the two black

"Gunfighters" is sublime.  "Highlanders" is an awful mess.

As far as other serials with socially conscious themes, there's also "The Sun Makers."  "Monster of Peladon," too.

I really like BOSS as well, too.  Plus John Dearth is obviously having a tremendous time with the part.

What's frustrating about Jo in this, too, is that we saw some marvelous growth from her over the years.  We met her as a bumbling young woman, destroying the Doctor's experiment, but later (in Frontier in Space, I think?) she's able to withstand the Master hypnotizing her.  But then in her swansong—while I like the

Yes.  It's generally very bad.  Sheila Hancock as Helen A, however, is not necessarily a delight, but it's pretty cool that such an overt parody of Thatcher was allowed a screening to begin with.

"It’s frustratingly uneven, sloppily constructed."  An apt summary of all the Sloman/Letts season finales save for "The Daemons," unfortunately.

Also from season 4… and I'm a broken record by this point… "Power" and "Evil of the Daleks"!!!

Oh yes, its voice in "Snowmen" is really very chilling.  I was mentioning the existing films since that tends to be the only thing people bother with and therefore may never have actually heard the Intelligence speak.  (I've actually watched/listened to all 26 seasons.  Some of the Loose Cannon stuff is really quite

Definitely agree the Great Intelligence in NuWho was ill-defined.  It didn't help that the Doctor remarked about the Intelligence, "Sounds familiar."  I suppose it was a slight meta jab at the fact that only 2 of the 12 Great Intelligence episodes of the original series exists (I think I have that stat correct), wiped

Sarah is my companion.  Although Romana I, Vicki, Ian and Barbara, and Liz Shaw also tie for a close second.

If we're talking anniversary stories, we could also suffer through (plug your nose) "Silver Nemesis."

Yeah.  Dr. Who makes that mistake a few too many times, giving away a secret too early: the Grim Reaper in "The Visitation," the Axons true form in "The Claws of Axos," how to kill the Silurians in "Warriors of the Deep," etc.

Oh, wow!  I would've loved to've seen Tomas as the companion.  Brendan Price is so, so handsome.  He'd've given something for the, er, gay dads to look at!  :)

Yes, love the voices.  The "Who am I" cliffhanger in the child's voice is just so, so chilling.  Still sends chills down my spine just thinking about it!

And what's wonderful about this ranking is that since this season is so damn good, the numbers might go more like this:

Sums up the Republican Party and the religious right so aptly.

I've heard this, too.  An occasion where Tom Baker's instincts were spot on.  More often than not, he had some pretty ridiculous ideas (some of which we saw in the worst excesses of Season 17.)

You're not alone.  It took me awhile to warm to Pertwee as well.  When I finally saw his first season, though, his character started to make sense to me.  I always say this about the Pertwee years, but I wish we could've had at least one more season like season 7.
