Holy shit, Lobsters is back. How ya been, Lobsters?

I must be a fucking moron
I don't get what the fuck happened in Small Worlds. SPOILERS, I guess:

I am reminded of that great article in Our Dumb Century "Dr. Seuss Hanged for Subversion."

Killing of a Chinese Bookie
What an odd movie it really is. Here you have Cassavettes who's known for these actor-y character studies, and Bookie is definitely that. But then there's also the titular set-piece, which is handled with a good amount of craft and suspense. And then there are the scenes in the

She's not a "whore" who sleeps with a lot of men - that's not what I meant at all. I meant it more as a general insult because of her terrible parenting. She's leaving her kids so she can fuck some Republican. That's pretty goddamn low.

The saddest part for me
was the shot of the Draper children sitting down and watching TV with Carla while fucking Betty (are we allowed to call her a whore now that Don did?) flew to goddamn Reno or whereverthefuck with that guy and Don is off moving into a new place. Those poor kids.

Brian De Palma
There should be more De Palma-centric articles on AV Club, since virtually all the staff loves him and he's awesome.

I'm just glad a respectable source has called Glenn Beck a mormon fuckface who should have drunk himself to death years ago.

They're showing
a promotional featurette for this in some movie theaters. In it, Zemeckis says "we can finally show what Dickens wrote."

Could this movie be described as
Mo'larious?

Martian Time-Slip
Anybody read it? It's not one of his more respected novels but I like it a lot. It's treatment of mental illness is particularly fascinating - there's a scene in the book where the main character is contemplating all the things he'd lose if he was losing his mind, and one of them is cheating on his

I dunno zode. Saying you're gonna do something and actually doing it are two different things. See what happens if you actually create the "WACK HANDLEN" avatar.

I made my Gwen Stefani avatar
sing "I Am a Holla-Back Girl."

I think it was the second book I read, and I loved it. I especially like the "Empathy Machine."

Ubik is great. They'll probably do a movie eventually. And there's a line from Ubik that I remember really liking but now I don't remember enough to even paraphrase it. It's from when Ubik is being advertised on TV/radio…something about "Ubik is great for…" and instead of typical advertising language it's perfect

The Man in the High Castle kept me awake one night as I imagined if my whole life was fiction being written by someone else.

I like Flow My Tears, although I'll agree the ending is a little clunky in its attempts to explain everything that had happened up to that point. But I just can't agree that the guy who wrote A Scanner Darkly is a bad writer. When his heart was in it the man could write.

Yeah I'd put it in the "great" category as well.

Oh my god…

I love Dick
I've read a handful of his novels: A Scanner Darkly, Flow My Tears…, Ubik, The Man in the High Castle, Do Androids Dream…, and they're all great.
