Rarely did I hear anybody refer to the year as, for example, "twenty oh one."  It was, more often than not, referred to as "two thousand and one."  Search your heart, Robert.  You know it to be true.

Up and atom!

Up and atom!

I will not deal with it!  It's misplaced and, thus, the very definition of imperfect.  Also, this whole "hologram" thing reminds me of when some of us used to refer to the year as "two thousand and blank" instead of  "twenty blank" because it made us feel more futuristic.

Well, music journalists popularized the Bolan story.  They really love mythologizing things, though, that's why I'm somewhat skeptical of it.

True enough.  Countless things have started that way.

They're British, too.  I'm trying to find a non-British Glam act that didn't eventually make the jump to Power Pop or something.    Oh and fun (possible) fact:  Apparently, Bowie wrote "Lady Stardust" with Marc Bolan in mind.  It might not be true at all, but I'd like to think it is.

I actually prefer "Hunky Dory" to this album, but I admire "Ziggy" sticking with the Glam aesthetic pretty much all the way through.  Speaking of Glam, it's always struck me as musical movement that was pretty much exclusive to Great Britain.  Are there any great Glam Rock bands that came out elsewhere?

I was really surprised to learn how much self-loathing Phil Collin's seems (or seemed, perhaps he's in better psychological shape) to have.   As a songwriter, it appears like he's not able to face his issues directly on either a musical or lyrical level.  I just hope he's doing better now.  That was a somewhat
