It appears that Last Resort isn't doing very well. I'm torn between hoping for it to succeed, so he'll eventually have enough cachet to demand another go at Terriers, and hoping it'll be cancelled so he can just say "Screw this, let's get this Terriers kickstarter happening.,"

I'm guessing that the scene in the throne room feels Masterpiecey is because it's supposed to seem staged—because it is staged. The whole scene is a mummer's show so Joffrey will have a very public reason to annul his prior engagement and be able to move on to Margaery.
