That was likely a reference to Niven: in his universe, sex was considered a routine way to close a deal. Niven still wrote the best aliens…
I likened Vir to Claudius as Cartagia was to Caligula
These changes in TNG, as with B5, obviously have more to do with Hollywood realities than what actually goes on in any military (or quasi-military, as some would refer to the Federation) unit. TNG had a couple of chief engineers before they stayed with Geordi, and since there was no suggestion he had any interest in…
They can try to explain it off all they want, but I can't see where there can be any "down time" at a station like B5. It's not like a ship will stand around in hyperspace or outside the station while they wait for the full crew to start work at B5's version of 9 am…a skeleton crew just wouldn't work, you need a full…
I neglected to mention earlier, I thought the scene where Sheridan is finishing his speech to an empty command center was ridiculous: there should be people on duty at all times, as B5 is always in operation. Lack of understanding of how the military works is another of the show's weaknesses, I will discuss that more…
Thanks for the kind words, Delenn. My Cathy was a fan of the show herself, and she admired Delenn's strength. Unlike Sheridan, I have no regrets in that there was nothing left unsaid. Hers was not a sudden death but came after a long illness, and was not unexpected. I only wish that we had spent more time together.
It's been seven years since my wife died, and I sometimes feel the same way: I find myself feeling like I should tell her about something I saw or something I did.
"Points Of Departure" was the first episode of B5 I saw, and it was the explanation about Minbari souls being born into human bodies that made me realize this was something different. It was quite some time before I could see any first season episodes, so I had no background. But that line hooked me.
Considering that today is the 20th anniversary of the airing of "The Gathering", you'd think that today would have been a good day to bring this back. If they were planning on discontinuing it, they should at least drop us a note saying "hey we're not doing it any more", or "we're sorry for the delay , we'll return…

The internet was still in its infancy when B5 aired so they really didn't understand what direction it was going to take. Still, technology seems very low level when you consider how big a difference there is between 1912 and 2012. B5 takes place two and a half centuries hence.
