I assume that Dany goes to the North, intending to take it from Jon Snow, then Bran shows up and reveals Jon's parentage and then the Wall blows up and the walkers come through. Jon and Dany ride dragons and kill all the White Walkers.
I recently just re-watched the series and Stannis actually makes that correction twice. Once at Castle Black and once at Dragonstone.
I wouldn't want an epic about the Long Night. I would prefer a collection of minor tales set in the world at various times along the way. Perhaps a story about how a minor house in the North deals with the White Walkers without having to involve every aspect of the world.
I like that kind of idea. I had always wished that people had done that with Tolkein's work.
