Heavy Rain was the only time it felt like you really had control over the story … and stupid sci-fi stuff didn't get really stupid.

Kojima is batshit in an idiosyncratic entertaining way.

I never finished that one, but the pace of those releases bordered on "this is basically an early digital release with a gimmick."

I think we will probably see an influx of those alternate heroes in a couple years when contracts run out.

I can see that on a broader scale, and how a faithful adaptation of the entire series would carry with it the problems of the source material's overall clunkiness.

I was not a fan of Betty in the Edward Norton Hulk movie. So on that level, I am not losing sleep over how neglected she's been in the MCU.

1 - I never finished the series. But the movie did cause me skim what I didn't read a while ago. The ending had been spoiled for me long before I got there.

The sequels are crazy. But do we really think it would be that hard to adapt the first book?

Telltale releasing these episodically is what tanks it for me. The gaps go so long, by the time the next one is out, I've basically stopped caring or forgotten the details. If these have to be released in chunks I think 2 or 3 long segments is better than 5 short episodes spread over 7 months.

The Ang Lee Hulk isn't canon with the MCU.

I think a faithful adaptation of The Gunslinger would be possible. But probably not the rest of the series, not in the form of two hour movies.

The first book isn't even THAT weird.

It was the apotheosis of all mediocre film adaptations …

Well, you've sorta got your wish right?

Who the hell reads The Dark Tower and thinks "This should be somekind of YA thing?"

Unlike the novel, so a lot of this movie looks like it takes place outside of Mid-World. So Roland would look comically out of place in full cowboy getup

There would be flashbacks and at least one scene of Jake in New York. But it would not be a super difficult movie to make. The following books it much weirder.

I actually think using the Horn of Eld is a cool idea (and a logical way to get around the difficulties of doing a Dark Tower adaptation, especially once you have to condense the longer books into two hour movies) But that doesn't mean this movie will be good.

Maybe after the dust settles, in a few years someone will actually make this into the premium cable drama it obviously should be adapted into
