I know the early story was that there was a big drop after a strong premiere, but the live + numbers were supposed to make up for some of the drop. I like Seth Meyers and Weekend Update; for me, it's usually one of the strongest parts of the show. But this week, it was the low point of an otherwise excellent episode.

I've never read Le Carre. Where do I start? I need some good spy craft/political thriller to help me get from The Americans to what is hopefully a more nuanced season of Homeland.

Super late to the party on this one (stockpiled episodes on DVR), but I generally agree with what you're saying. Seeing Phillip as a loyal soldier brings me out of the viewing experience to question whether or not that is believable.
