I thought it was pretty clear from the first scene of the season (the newspaper interview) the theme of the season was "Who is Don Draper?" Is he a raging drunk, a absentee father, an accomplished businessman or is he just some poor farm kid named Dick Whitman?

It was unusual to not see Peggy since she's on the creative team and we're usually following Don around. It was interesting for a week to see the account management side of things though. We don't get enough time to see what it is exactly that Pete and Roger do. As much as the show dishes it out for Roger, we got to

Lane was being pretty petulant to his father. I felt so uncomfortable for his girlfriend when he forced her to kiss him in front of his father. Her expression said it all…DO NOT LIKE.

The Problem with post-Lost shows…
…is they show their cards too early. People tuned into Lost with the expectation of seeing a modern-day Gilligan's Island (but dramatic instead of featuring some Harlem Globetrotters). Remember, the pilot of Lost only featured some ruffling trees. Hardly the epic conspiracy the show

Seriously, Reeves has a spot-on Herzog impression in his repertoire. I was laughing my ass off. Why hasn't this comedy gold been mined before? Or has it?

Cathedral scene cinematography
The cinematographic choices in the cathedral scene always bothered me. They start the scene with the excellent choice to frame Bartlet subjectively in the dolly shot that follows him down the main aisle. They seem to treat the cathedral as you'd normally treat a character, and the

And yet, Joan shuts him down she realizes that his war story is just an a exploitative ploy to toy with her emotions and win her over. That emotional honesty was something I wish for Joan in her own marriage. Speaking of which, I wonder how Roger's marriage is going…

Lane Price
How great is it to have that guy around? So glad they made him a main player.

Don't forget that terrible episode of The West Wing that was live during it's otherwise outstanding-for-not-having-Aaron-Sorkin seventh season.

Thanks a lot. That was just what I was looking for. People get so snarky on this site sometimes that they seem to forget the actual criticism and just decide that Dane Cook sucks. I get the "all sizzle no steak" thing, but of the stuff I've heard (mainly Dangerous if Swallowed) he's got some hilarious bits — the DMV

Louie CK v. Dane Cook
I want to ask you guys a question that was touched on in a pervious TV Club. A commenter has referred to Louie CK as the anti-Dane Cook, a comic's comic, someone the comedy world can get behind. My question is this: Why is the comedy world so anti-Dane Cook and so pro Louie CK. I like both,

As a native Minnesotan, I must rise up and defend my statesmen: Tell me you wouldn't at least be intruiged by Ventura's political ad: http://www.youtube.com/watc…

Because when they do pay it off, you have to sit through a really awkward rendition of Allison Janney singing "The Jackel" and pretend that it's funny.

Diplomacy drama
"The genius of Aaron Sorkin is that he could write an episode where the characters talk about diplomacy issues the entire time, and it would be one of the most personal and revealing episodes of the show's run."

Casey Affleck fan
Man, I wish this could've been a Random Roles. I find Casey Affleck to be one of the most endearing actors working today. Everytime I see him on screen I just want things to go well for him. One of my favorite Affleck performances is from a mediocre movie: The Last Kiss (aka Garden State 2). His

When talking about westerns, don't forget The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Obviously a mixed-genre game, but they did have a number of sequences heavily influenced by westerns.

The problem with Jericho is that it couldn't just rest on its laurels. It had an excellent premise: life in a small town during the aftermath of a huge nuclear attack. But then it had to go all conspiracy theory on us and attach all this importance to our central characters. Of course one of the main characters

Don't forget Jason Alexander and Whitney Houston. Was that version not good enough for Disney? It was a fine adaptation, imo. As fine an adaptation of such an overtold story could be, at least.
