The film I associate with him is Ron Howard's Rush, a very underrated film with an excellent performance by Mr. Brühl.

I remember this too! It was terrifying. Then I think later in the same book, a cheerleader falls through the ice on a frozen lake and can't find the hole, and she looks up at her friend who is atop the ice and drowns. Chilling.

Dawn made me remember something — I miss Paul Kinsey. Was there ever any behind-the-scenes explanation as to why he never returned? I'd love to see him in his turtleneck showing everyone who cool he is with Dawn being the newest employee.

Avatars?
What's up Noel and Scott? Too cool for avatars?

If this BNL thing is gonna become a recurring joke, I can only assume the band will make a cameo eventually. Has anyone seen if the band has responded on their twitter to the references?

Steven Tyler v. J.Lo
I don't understand why Steven Tyler gets all the attention as an ex-rocker when Jennifer Lopez has been a bigger celebrity more recently. No doubt Steven has more charisma, but why doesn't anyone ask Jennifer to sing along or sit on the chair on stage? I have a feeling she has something build into

I appreciate the random, obscure Fargo reference. Way to go, Stingo.

Plausable deniablity
I like how now even Sheen's publicist doesn't deny that his client had a breifcase full of coke, he only lets out a half-hearted, "I don't know, maybe it's not true?"

Ohhhhh noooooo
Does anyone else react with an "Oh no, a new Sawbuck Gamer. There goes my week," whenever this feature pops up?

High school realism
I'm not sure I've seen the high school experience depicted quite as realistically. At least for me, this episodes spells it out: The crazy, hyper late nights with friends, the immature teasing, the feeling that these bonds are the strongest you'll ever have in your life…it's all there. Made me feel

The limited number of songs is disappointing, but I never get tired of hearing Wanye Newton's smug Mr. New Vegas. "People often ask me if there's a Mrs. New Vegas. There is. You're her." "You're listening to Radio New Vegas and if you're wondering if you've come to the right place…you have." His delivery is just

Asia quote
Did anyone get Daryl's quote about asia? Something to the gist of "What is it with all this asian stuff on the walls? Do you think there are people in Asia who have a bunch of our stuff on their walls?" —loved it.

Watch out Myles. You're going to awaken the slumbering beast that is Keith Phipps. Shitty as the grades are for art criticism, they do make it easy to have a cursory glance as the list of upcoming movies or TV episodes in a season and decide which ones to watch.

Wow, showtunes geek win. Nicely done. I stand corrected, Ernie.

Uncanny valley
Based on the trailer, it looks like they've fallen into the uncanny valley, not climbed out of it. In making the facial tics so realistic, they've moved the digital human expressions into the realm of being really really close to lifelike, but still not quite there. Fallout New Vegas, which I just

I Have Confidence
I love this movie, etc, but when I saw the stage version I spent the entire show waiting for the performance of my favorite song, "I Have Confidence," only to find out it was written specifically for the film adaptation. Damn you, Rogers and/or Hammerstein!

Great interview
I'm pleasantly surprised by The AV Club's ability to really get into detail in such a heavy political subject. Is this a direction you're moving in, or was this just a one-off interview possibility that arose and you decided to jump on it?

Peter Saarsgard
Apparently they couldn't afford Peter Saarsgard in the role of the detective, so they threw some other actor in that looked just like Saarsgard and slapped a mustache on him in hopes of fooling the audience.

Lane Pryce
I'VE GOT A BIG TEXAS BELT BUCKLE!

I've found the best litmus test for if a woman has good taste in movies is The Holiday. If she LOVES "The Holiday," she has bad taste in movies. Period. If the thinks it's alright, this doesn't work, but I've yet to find someone who says they love "The Holiday" who has good taste.
