Serenity was the very first Whedon thing I had ever watched because I had heard that it was pretty good movie. I knew it was based on a TV show, so whenever anyone died, I knew it would probably be sadder if I'd watched the show, so didn't hold it against the movie. I enjoyed Serenity, but wasn't blown away. However…

I agree with everything that you say, but would also add that the proliferation of superhero movies in the last few years has provided a lot more man flesh to enjoy. Chris Hemsworth was often shirtless in Thor (thank you Kenneth Branagh) and superhero costumes are usually pretty form fitting.

All right, I haven't actually posted anything in the Korra reviews yet, though I always read them and basically all the comments because I'm a bit of a completest. I just went back and watched the finale of ATLA and it actually made me rethink Korra in both positive and negative ways.

Fun Fact! My father's name is Brian McKnight (no relation to the man above), which makes this newswire doubly disturbing for me.

Agree. Saw Cabin on Wednesday in a mostly empty theatre. My main thought was I couldn't believe someone actually green-lit this thing. It was way to strange for main-stream America, and I'm not surprised it was getting C ratings from CinemaScore. Favorite parts:
I just watched Thor and Captain America the first time this weekend to get me ready for the Avengers. Thor was enjoyable and holy hell is Chris Hemsworth one charming, ripped motherfucker. Captain America was pretty bland. Felt like a Michael Bay movie without the hyper-kinetic fight scenes. I did find it hilarious…
In my past life I worked on a couple of different productions of Streetcar and can say that Brando pretty much ruined the role for anyone else. Even if the actors aren't consciously trying to do Brando, it just seeps into the performance. Also the audience expects Brando, so its pretty tough to have a radically…
@avclub-77a30f3aed77aef3d4ed12bf43df6964:disqus I understand your reaction and even respect it, because you are correct it is lazier writing than most of the rest of the series.
I agree with you that Zuko/Azula/Katara is the much better fight. I just also recognize the the author's wrote themselves into a bit of a corner. Aang had to enter the Avatar state to beat Ozai and while they didn't necessarily come up with the best way for him to unlock the Avatar state, I forgive them because I…
I've got that on my Netflix Queue. Will definitely have to check it out next. Thanks!
