Agreed. There was a core intelligence to the character in the books that's missing here. If we eventually find out that (mild comic spoilers) this version of Michonne used to be a very successful lawyer, I won't really buy it.

I do. He started out slow but became a really compelling villian by the back quarter of last season. That scene where he genuinelly begged Michonne for the life of his walker daughter was the turning point.

I wouldn't say it's a shame, exactly. He led 94 very full years.
