The racism episode is a devestating parody of the Guns and Gossip ep of My So-Called Life. Blackman's interrogation of Jerri may even be lifted whole from MSCL.

Toddles, the original cast of Urinetown was one of my most memorable nights in the theater as well. I just found my Urinetown t-shirt that reads, "An appalling notion, fully realized," and realized that the shirt is over a decade old.

Fun fact: The melody to "Gee Officer Krupke" was originally written for the Old Lady to sing in Candide. And I think "One Hand, One Heart" and "Oh Happy We" basically switched places.

@avclub-eccbc7cdf4dfd00792d431e1a1d896fa:disqus , nice try but you're thinking of Adolpho. I was referring to myself as one of the few people willing to buy this album.

Their showalbum is fucking awesome. I never realized "It's Raining on Prom Night" was about menstruation until they showed me the light.

I'm interpreting that as a compliment. And I thank you.

Aging housewives… and Rodolfo!

Okay, I will admit to an insufferable adolescence, and to possessing a degree in theater. And show tunes aren't for everyone. But, theater music is so much more than whatever you listened to in middle school, which, depending on your age, that was probably Phantom of the Opera, Rent, or Wicked. There's over a century

Spiner did Broadway before he did STTNG.

Spencer Tracy was a contract player at MGM, not 20th.

Did anyone else expect Francine's old hook-up to turn out to be Roger? What they actually did was much better, but I just sort of assumed it would be Roger. I was even waiting for Stan to paraphraseRoger's line "And let's hope to God that for once, it doesn't turn out to be Roger."

It was Joel Larson and I don't think he sounded anything like Fillion.

God, I just looked them up on trutv. Serial killers fascinate me, too, but the first page on them is already making me sick.

Few things in movies make me nauseous, but the postcard-stuck-to-the-wall bit in Happiness made me sick to my stomach for days afterward. Thinking about it still makes me feel queasy and I haven't seen it since it's original release.

Excellent work, Noel. Your description of grade school at the end was spot-on and golden.

Stan Smith. American Dad! I find him inexplicably attractive. Much less embarrassing are Graham Chase on My So-Called Life and Hal on Malcolm in the Middle. Not that I have Daddy issues or anything.

I was wondering about that, too. I swear I remember seeing her on a talk show (I gudgingly admit it may have been Geraldo) with other former stars who were now broke. I guess it must have been after her club closed?

That was Gimme a Break.
