Gimme Isis over Pelican any day. The blind taste test is the best way to prove it. Well, and the drumming.
While I love several of the songs on Baroness' Blue Album, I keep going back to Grad, Iask and Rays on Pinion from their Red Album. Very accessible. I can't wait for more Baroness stuff to come our way.
Kinda like seeing KISS in concert…
Meh, I kinda liked it. I went, expecting to see stuff blow up real good, and the scrappy dog being saved against all odds. On both counts, I got my money's worth. CGI was great. It would have been better had it been 45 minutes shorter - I could have lived without either the car…
King should update The Stand again, in light of the H1N1 virus.
I, too, just finished the uncut version of The Stand. I liked it, but suspect that the edited version would have been better. For me, the middle 300 pages just dragged. I could have lived without the hand of freakin' God coming down in Las Vegas, too! Sheesh.
All that clapping DOES improve our self-esteem, though, right?
Exactly. At a certain point, the price of oil will rise to the level that the average driver will start car pooling or will start driving the speed limit, or start eliminating the cross-country road trip…and demand for oil will decrease.
FF would be better if the show was written to actually end in April 2010. It would make us more aware of how destiny/fate is actually going to play out or not.
Into the Abyss
Cameron pretty much gets the lifetime pass from me: Alien, Aliens, Terminator, T2, Abyss, True Lies, and even Titanic all had more than their fair share of memorable scenes to make me sit through some corny dialogue and preachiness. Plus, he's from Kapuskasing, so there's that.
14A?!??!?
I can't believe this movie wasn't restricted to 18 years of age and older - 14A?! There were three or four EXTREMELY graphic scenes that no younger teen should be exposed to. Pretty sad, really.
No doubt the vocals (and even the lyrics, sadly) are the weak links in an otherwise solid Mastodon chain. I've downloaded the instrumental/score versions of their songs - great headphone and workout music.
Aerosmith is definitely America's greatest rock band. Hard rock classics? Check. Radio-friendly hits? Yup. CD sales? Absolutely. Longevity. Of course. Cultural influence? Not so much, but I think that's because their recent stuff is hated by the rock fans, and their early/heavier stuff may have too much of a…
Meh, I thought it would have been cool if everything wrapped up in April 2010!
NSB, a quick check found this article re: Billboard:
I love what Trent's done with the remix feature on the NIN website. I always check out the iTunes podcast version of the fans' remixes. It's amazing to see how people can rework his material. I tried building a remix, but I just didn't seem to have the imagination or the technical prowess to come up with anything…
I'm looking forward to the new Baroness stuff - the Red album is very Mastodonish, indeed.
How 'bout "Double Live Gonzo" or "Intensities in 10 Cities" by The Nuge? Or, any of Rush's live albums?
Meh, at the end of the day, nobody's forcing anyone to borrow waaaaay beyond their means - folks just want to get their share of the American Dream, right? Unfortunately, the American Dream may just need patience, hard work, and a good sense of realism to attain.
So true. Maybe it was always this way, but now especially, KISS is about the concert experience…just like Blue Man Group. Hey, if $50 gets me a ticket to see a night of smoke, lights, explosions, etc., then why not? They still have 3-4 memorable tunes. Make it so.
