But by that logic, any time they showed murder or grievous bodily injury was "going to far," since that happens to people or to the loved ones of people who watch the show with regularity too. What else ya got?

Damn, high quality episode! Usually I write off the first ep of any GoT season, since it has to do so much setup, but this ep just dropped us right back into the action. I loved it.

I strongly suspect that Dany is going to seize control of the Dothraki on her own. After all, dominating Dothraki is the first trick she ever learned. I think Jorah and Euron/Daario are gonna show up to rescue her…only to find she doesn't need rescuing.

"Tone deaf approach to sexual assault." I know this is the "correct" position and so you want to make sure people know you have the right opinions about things, but can someone please explain to me why Theon getting castrated was ok, a guy burning his daughter to death was ok, but Sansa getting raped was unacceptable?

OK but lots of people love watching watching sports, AND love playing them. And this is the attitude I'm promoting here. Why is it impossible to enjoy watching AND enjoy playing games? Why is only one of them the "right" way to do things?

Sometimes it's fun. I love playing games, and prefer playing to watching, but I don't pooh-pooh the whole idea. Right now I'm watching a Let's Play of Twilight Princess. I've beaten that game several times, but it's nice and relaxing to watch someone else play through a game I know and love.

You are looking for consistency in the wrong place, my friend.

OK but watching others plays sports/games is something that's pretty universal across human cultures, so surely you'll grant that you are in the minority here.

So in your mind its wrong to watch sports that you yourself don't play? And even if you watch something you do play, its a waste unless you take notes the whole time? Thats…one of the dumbest things I've heard all week.

Oddly enough, I find Legend of Zelda games great to watch. Now, to be clear, I find them A LOT more fun to play, but I've also watched a few Zelda Let's Plays and there's something very relaxing about watching someone else slog through Hyrule and doing all the work.

Bloodborne is worth a try. The shouting and controller throwing are perfectly offset by the incedible rush you get when you finally do beat that boss after the 80th try (fuck you, Shadows of Yharnam).

Ooo, the rare Zen Buddhist burn. Nicely done!

"It was ok" seems a fair rating to me. I enjoyed it, but it has a lot if flaws. But that's miles beyond the absolute beating it's taking from professional critics.

Oh it has problems, theres no doubt about that. But I have to confess I found myself enjoying it anyway. It's worth at least seeing yourself and forming your own opinion of.

Fair enough, I see your point. For more context, I've seen and enjoyed a lot of superhero movies. It's just Superman in particular that I avoid, as I've never found him at all interesting. But I concede that I'm way in the minority there, as you pointed out.

Well you got me there I guess

Liked, purely for using "the bee's knees" in a sentence.

There was such a shitstorm of negative hype in the last few days that I'm a lot of people were also rating it poorly without seeing it either, so I think a lot of that balanced out in the end.

He got a lot of laughter in the theater I was in. I dunno, I'm not sure why but…I kinda liked Eisenberg's Luthor. The scene on the rooftop near the end was masterful.

Yeah there was a real negative hype storm around this movie in the last few days. I think once people actually see it for themselves they'll realize it's not nearly as bad as people were making it out. It's got a lot of problems, to be sure, but it was still enjoyable.
