The very small contingent of Star-Trek-fan whaling captains increased their catches from 1987 through 1989 in an irrational response to their hatred of the film.

Tinsel -

I'd like to point out that "Jaws" from seven years earlier had blood o'plenty, a severed foot, a severed head popping out of a boat's hull, and Quint being bitten in half rght in front of your eyes - and was rated PG.

Arthur is another album that should be heard by more folks - "Victoria", "Drivin'", "She's Bought a Hat Like Princess Marina", "Shangri-La", "Australia." Great stuff, and a good story too.

No, Daddy flew across the ocean to be sent into the fight to die. "The Final Cut" expands on this.

"Quadrophenia" is the Who's pinnacle. "Tommy" is great, but like "Sgt. Pepper", just doesn't hold up as well. Agree that "Tommy" live is fantastic, though.

Concept Albums
I agree that any great, living album is best listened to all the way through. It's what defines an actual "album" as opposed to a long-form collection of songs. For example, the Rolling Stones' "Beggars Banquet" is a true album in this sense, while "Sticky Fingers (although terrific in its own right)

"We actually shot a scene with an Earth Mother twist on the swirl. Or, wait…let me look through me notes…maybe we killed it in the writer's meeting. Oh, yeah, I guess we did cut it. That and having Richard Dreyfus walk out of the Base Ship in an orange jump suit."

magnus - cheers back to you and all the other stalwarts. You folks have all made this show more for me than just a great hour of television each week. I'd like to mention that I read all 600+ comments a day or so ago, was a bit overwhelmed by the number of posters, and have decided to hang out here on the last two

You could look at it another way, I suppose, and expand the whole "this has all happened before and this will all happen again" idea exponentially. Maybe the Cylon-Human-Cylon cycle has happened a million times before and this one cycle just happens to coincide with stars going nova and angels becoming emotionally

It's true that a lot of story arcs were started and then dropped without explanation. My theory is that, since all of their episodes seemed to run way over time from script to initial cut, they dropped the "older" arc for new "this'll get the fans' heads spinning!" arcs (like the Tigh-Caprica Six romance). Not an

Alurin - I hadn't caught that bit about Ellen's motivations - makes sense. Good call.

The Final Podcast
Looks like the podcast commentary for the whole finale has been posted at the scifi site.

Tyrol found a wee lass with perfect teeth who vaguely smelled of haggis. Maybe Cylons & the natives can breed more successfully than Cylons and the colonists.

Hot Dog is Hera's father too, but Sharon isn't spilling the beans. They don't call him Hot Dog for nothing!

The motion for less feces and more reminiscing passes…

I'll take a crack at post-rationalizing the quick decision to leave technology behind and go native.

OK. I've worried about the Deus Ex Machina ending as a possibility, and now it's come to pass. But…is it really a cop-out? BSG has always been good about pulling the rug out from under us - and (mostly) in a good way. And how often has a divine or infinite string-puller been used in a television series, anyway?

Well, at 10PM EST on Friday 3/20/09, the internet went nova!

Awww, let the dude watch up through "Revelations." Then claim that the writers' strike killed the show and they weren't able to carry on. After that, show him Firefly and insist that show lasted another eight seasons but went to shit after the first 14 episodes.
