I can't stop listening to "It's Okay"
I heard this song on a remix someone had done of that robots-in-love short film Spike Jonze did, about a month and a half ago…and I must've played it 75 times since.

Really well directed for a film I ultimately didn't enjoy
I'm not a big fan of the "horrible people doing horrible things to other horrible people" genre, and I just couldn't gain any sympathy for anyone here, especially Jim Carrey. It's just kind of an offputting movie at times, though i know that's the point…

This is sure to go down as one of the greats…
Right up there with "The Secret Diaries of Desmond Pfeiffer", "Homeboys in Outer Space", and "Cavemen"

Good review
I saw this in Toronto last year, based on the rave reviews/word of mouth on it coming out of the Venice film festival.

I LOVE (flawed as it is) the '95 "Prophecy", even though I always wish they'd kept the original title, "God's Army" - it's just cooler. also, the part where he's showing the kids how to play the horn and goes, "Ok, kids, study your math" (i'm paraphrasing the line…), always makes me chuckle.

That is pretty wild - mind blowing, really - that Rabin has not seen BEVERLY HILLS COP. (Then again, I forget who did the piece ultimately, but I found the "better late than never" on PREDATOR mind-blowing because…i mean, who is male and was alive in the 80's and has not seen PREDATOR?)

FATAL ATTRACTION and FLASHDANCE
I was (and still am) a movie freak growing up. But, like Tasha (and, presumably, many), my parents were relatively protective when it came to what I watched. (My Dad less so, especially as the years went on; it was always very "OK, but don't tell your Mom…")

Does anyone remember "Gossip"?
I consider myself a (mildly closeted…well, until now I guess) fan of Guggenheim's forgotten foray into features.

I'm not much of a "pop song" guy these days, but I actually really like the song. I'm sure I'll want to punch someone by September, as it's just reaching critical mass about now, in terms of the number of parties or bars i've been at and heard it, and the number of times a car has driven by blasting it.

Do me a kindness, would ya…?
I LOVED "Winnebago Man". Terrific. I do think the movie could've done more with the concept of "fifteen minutes of fame via the internet", as it's pretty glossed over, via interviews with a couple of subjects. It's not necessarily the main thesis of the movie, though it is tied to it,

Am I the only one…
who confuses 80's/90's B-movie director Jack Sholder (the New Line gem THE HIDDEN) with 90's B-director-turned-TV-director Jack Bender?

Can you get me into the "Sucker Punch" party on Saturday night?
I'll be your best friiiiiiiend

@Thierry - just listened to the Kashiwa Daisuke track you linked to - quite lovely! Nice way to start the day… Thanks!

I love "Riceboy Sleeps" - fantastic! I listen to it all the time. (Though I have yet to pick up the Jonsi solo album, as I heard it was more pop-y and vocal?)

oh, and "Cantus in Memorium Benjamin Britten" is one of the more gorgeous pieces of music i've ever heard; if you know of any cuts/albums that are in that mold, that kind of straddle classical and film score, would love to know about 'em!

Lord - I own a lot of Eno, but generally there's only a handful of tracks that are in that beautiful ambient, almost film score-y mode that I love. I actually listen to Harold Budd more than Eno, though certainly recognize the breadth of Eno's work as impressive. (And Eno's highpoints, like "An Ending (Ascent)" are

Good news for the writer-director of "The Stoning of Soraya M!"
Cyrus Nowrasteh must be all "Sweet! I just saved 14 bucks at Arclight!"

Wait, you mean the pasty bald dude in JEDI wasn't David Prowse?
Wow, I learned something today…

This sounds really cool
Would love to read. I dig stuff like this.

It's been a bit downhill since "Small Planes" for me…
I discovered the Innocence Mission around the same time as, I suspect, a lot of people - the song "Bright as Yellow", as featured on the EMPIRE RECORDS soundtrack. Which I got as a gift before heading off cross-country to LA where I now live. I bought a couple
