I had an ex gf who complained about everyone constantly crying in the pilot and my response was, if you just found out someone you cared about was brutally murdered in a horrible way, you would be crying your eyes out too.
I am actually a little worried about this. I feel like most people are expecting a switch to get hit and everything is going to lock into place and we are going to have like 3 hours of total fucking batshit stuff happening at an incredible clip, I'm just not sure any switch is going to get hit.
Yeah, I get not liking certain aspects, I find myself getting impatient here and there, but each scene works so well on its own and there is plenty going on plot wise.

Humor is a mystery? I thought it was seen as a way of regulating possibly fraught areas in social situations when mores have been lightly violated. Also as an emotional mechanism to process unpleasantness and/or absurdity.

Yes, it is eye rolly, but I like that he admits it and doesn't apologize for his own sense of disgust, which is more deeply rooted than most forms of socialization. He's being honest despite it not exactly being a polite or needed thing to say. That's good enough for me.
