::Google Image searches I.G.:: Oh, for some reason I always thought he was Indian. I will keep this up for my eternal shame.

I am pissed that that looks like the direction they are going in. The Major is extremely competent and one of the things I like about the O.G. film is how everyone is dedicated to their work, extremely dedicated to each other and even if they have misgivings about their job, they know what the fuck they are doing and

Yeah but IV is one of their best reviewers.

I wish they got the director from Under the Skin to make this. They would have slayed it together.

But one could make an argument that Desi folks face more erasure than East Asian when it comes to Hollywood and therefore…maybe it does?

Yeah I mean, the '95 film is more dorm room stoner than ph.d professor when it comes to the philosophy shit, but it adds to the contemplative and alienated tone which i really like. And I think its as deep as blade runner when it comes to all of that, so your milage may vary.

A cyberpunk movie featuring trans actors would be fucking awesome and goes very much along the themes of GiTS.

While I enjoy the action scenes, I def. agree with you. My favorite scene in the entire movie is when Kusanagi wakes up after the title sequence and groggily stumbles out of her apartment. When she opens the window and looks out unto the city just really hits me for some reason.

Ya know, as long as this live action version doesn't discourage people from watching the '95 film. There are so many versions of GiTS that I don't consider this sacrilege, but the '95 film to me isn't just a classic of Anime, it is a classic of Film, period. I'm not even that big of an anime but i love the shit out

GiTS (95) > Blade Runner. Ya big whup, wanna fight about it!!!?

But a person of color wrote that statement, so can we automatically decry it or do we have to take it on its merits!?!?!?

Question, is the atmosphere and tone similar to the '95 film? I like the philosophical stuff but I always loved in descending order: A. THE ANIMATION ITSELF, B. The Tone/Atmosphere C. The Films Themes. If I can't have A and C do I at least get B?

Ha! That is the most casually tossed aside grenade of a statement I think I have ever read, love it (though not sure if I agree with it).

So Much This!

Looks like Zack Synder likes H.R. Giger more than a stoned teen aged boy getting into art for the first time.

Do people like the new versions of these characters?

AvClub, I will give you a dollar everytime you don't say Merc with a Mouth.

Slack is AOL chatrooms with a new coat of paint.

Gchat is great because you can ignore a question until you have a proper answer and everyone will just assume you're busy until you get back to them.

A lot of D.C. folks use it too i think. Cue the jokes….
