Bob and Linda meeting up at the end and instantly knowing what had happened to the other one was a nice touch.

His other two Thunderers and Gears of the City are both pretty good too. I didn't enjoy them quite as much as Half Made World, and they're a bit further into the fantasy genre.

I was trying to explain Half Made World to someone and the best I could come up with was "a Western crossed with magical realism, steampunk and a little bit of Brazil, but better than I'm making it sound". I wouldn't hold out for definitive answers, Gears of the City also leaves off without fully explaining the world
