I loved "Happy!" because it's such a mad-genius concept: "A scumbag ex-cop/hitman is recruited by a little girl's imaginary friend to save her from a child-molesting Santa."

Can't stand "The Message" myself. I skip right over it on the DVDs.

I thought that Wash did want a baby — he just didn't want to raise one on Serenity. His point was that their world was too unsafe, too dangerous, and too ugly for a child. Whether the character meant it or not, what he was really saying was, "Let's go someplace else and live a quieter life."

I loved that conversation between Wash and Zoe, too, mainly for the line, "I'm not so scared of losing something that I won't try to have it in the first place." For me, it pretty much summed up the terror and uncertainty of trying to become a parent. And it elevated the episode as a whole above the pretty standard

Second. Top Ten is up there with Watchmen as one of Moore's best works.

Yeah. "Grounded" may be one of the most aggressively stupid comics ever written. And this is a medium which regularly features talking gorillas.

Thanks so much, Donna. And again, thanks for the really impressive and smart writing.
