Yeah I don't get that either. My only guess is it's the natural by-product of its obsessive fanbase reading way too deep into it. FWIW there are some How I Met Your Mother fans that are similarly obsessive with that show.

No, I love the X-Files (see my edit to original post).

The recent For Our Consideration hits that right on the nose re: Jack. He was the most useless character on the show and I really hated him. Then being forced to care about the Kate/Sawyer/Jack love triangle made me pretty resentful.

No argument here (see my edit to original post).

I definitely agree that it completely fell apart at the end. I rewatched it last year, and it's funny how glaringly bad a lot of it was. The dialogue was just so on-the-nose and overwrought. Now that we've moved on to smarter shows like Breaking Bad and Mad Men, LOST seems downright quaint and old-fashioned.

@avclub-fb3deea8bff8902a6a092a4b532b4a68:disqus Yeah I realize that's the point, I'm just saying that the "humor" went right past a lot of the fans who weren't in the mood to be fucked with at the time. I'm thinking that's why more people now are saying they like that episode after the fact; since we don't have an

Though I disagree (it's very, very enjoyable watching if you like trashy sci-fi and melodrama, which apparently I do) you sound exactly like the guy who got me into LOST in the first place. He was a hardcore evangelizer for the show, got me into it, and after it ended he disowned it entirely, Refused to even

Yeah, I hated the X-Files too.

The hatred of that episode was an "of the moment" thing, where regular watchers were forced to sit one week out watching an episode on two characters they cared absolutely nothing about following a plot that had nothing to do with the mythology/mystery. It was also at the beginning of a season that, at that point,

I'm gonna hit the dunny. Gotta murder a brown snake.

Well, I'll defer to the experts on that one since I can barely differentiate one accent from another. But I definitely could tell that her accent was different from the rest of the actors, noticeably so.

My girlfriend worked a lot in New Zealand and Australia, and she's really good at telling the difference. Somewhat related, she couldn't watch Top of the Lake because Elisabeth Moss' New Zealand accent was so atrocious she couldn't pay attention to anything else.

We're like "where's the caaaah" and they're like "where's the caah".

This episode is my second favorite portrait of Australia, behind the Unnatural Love episode of Flight of the Conchords.

I'm gonna report this to me membah of parliament.

Like. I used to listen to Jazz All Night when I was up late back in college. I wonder why I don't listen to jazz anymore. It used to be the second backbone of my music collection.
