Yay! So happy these reviews are back. I am sad that I can't convince my girlfriend to watch Home Movies (she watched a couple and wasn't impressed…) but at least I have you guys to watch with me.

Yes, I should clarify: I like GirlTalk and others who really put effort into a coherent mash-up that shows originality and creativity. As someone who generally dislikes/ignores pop music, it's a nice quick glimpse of what's popular that only takes a few minutes.

My dad can use an iPhone, he's not an idiot. I've seen him do it. He just doesn't want one because all he wants is a goddamn phone, motherfuckers (his words).

The "phone bump" is so fucking stupid it makes me angry.

It's fine, I guess, but I have a larger issue with mash-ups in general. With the exception of hip-hop*, most mash-ups (or the ones I hear anyway) are not particularly creative beyond the "I can't believe they mixed this with that" aspect. I mean, most pop songs have nearly identical song structures so it's not

That's such an effective joke, I wasn't looking at the TV and I immediately knew what the joke was.

I noticed on the second watch through that Tina's eyeballing Jimmy Jr.'s butt while they're moving the toilet.

"And I didn't see the parking meter because there was a…kid…standing in front of it and, um, he was exactly meter sized. And I think he was loitering."

LISA NEEDS RELEVANCE

A 25 year old show referencing those youtube fads-of-the-week that only appeals to a generation that wasn't even born when said show began airing?

I don't really get why everyone hates Season 4, but I accept that I'll just have to disagree with Serious TV Opinions on this (it was the worst season, but that's like complaining about a B instead of an A - get over it, poindexter).

I usually ended up going to conferences over spring break (or during the first week of spring term). There was one, an annual meeting of researchers in the super-specific field I was working in, and was always held in places like South Padre Island, New Orleans, and Pensacola. But they timed it so we were there just

Yeah, my grad school was non-stop working and drinking, often at the same time (for the first two years anyway, before realizing we had dissertations to write).

Lighten up Bitterman!

For every "greatest movie" out there I'd be surprised if half of everyone who saw it actually liked it. Therefore, your statement is probably not even minority, much less controversial.

Uhhh…….two hundred dollars….?

Where's Hot Dog!?

Truffaut was referenced in at least one episode of Home Movies:

I had a chemistry teacher in high school who had us watch Soylent Green and kept fast-forwarding through the talk-y parts. I'm not sure what he was trying to say with that.

First worthwhile Community article in quite a while. For me, I realized I'm just getting tired of the show. It's not the show's fault, not entirely. But the novelty's worn off and I'm losing interest; it's okay, that happens.
