After Brubaker Andy Diggle came in and did a dozen issues of DD which transitioned into Shadowland and then into DD: Reborn. It was Marvel doubling down on dark depressing DD stories. Diggle does good work when he has some freedom but too often gets stuck doing poorly planned crossover grunt work.
