I can only speak for the pilot, but US AND THEM was adorable, and its leads (Jason Ritter and Alexis Bledel) have great chemistry. My understanding is that the show is just having a bit of production issues that forced it to take an early hiatus for rewrites… but the order-cut is definitely not a good sign.

rad

… they've been playing shows all year.  I saw them twice this spring in LA.  They don't get together that often, 'cause Khan's been living in Berlin or something, but they've been touring.

Sadly, we no longer live in that world… Girls broke up almost a year ago.  There's also Women, but their guitarist died last year… not sure if they're up and running still.

I wouldn't call it "necessary," but it's a surprisingly deranged, and often gleefully immoral show that was absolutely out of place on ABC… which is high praise.  And the cast could sell every single joke, which is fairly uncommon on non-Thursday-NBC network sitcoms these days.

I've heard that he's not allowed to mention Bitch 23 when discussing his own show.  ABC doesn't want people to connect his awesome psychotic shit-show to their toned-down psychotic shit-show.

"Killing Me Softly" is a little Flack 101… Let's go a little deeper.  How about Greatest Hits… Track 2.

Anybody waste enough of their time on here to remember the Mantan Moreland gimmick poster?  That guy got banned, right?

Ughhh… Takeshi Kitano's Outrage needs to be on here.  It makes the Marathon Man torture scene look like something out of a Disney movie.  Gore doesn't typically get to me that much, but I've rarely cringed harder.

Well, too late.  Whatever.

Before normal AV Club commenters come to tear your throat out, I'll just step in as a guy with literally no stakes in any of this…

I can't remember if it was in an interview or something Baldi said when I saw them live, but supposedly Albini really had nothing to do with the production.  Apparently his involvement amounted more or less to sitting in the studio updating his food blog.

I wouldn't call Tokyo Story "weak," but there are certainly better films by Ozu.  I think its reputation as being "in the top ten of Greatest Movies" (what?) mostly has to do with how hard most other Ozu films had been to track down until recently in the states. Still Tokyo Story warrants a mention in this feature and

Also, don't know all of the details, but isn't Zimmer kinda famous lately for taking the sole credit for scores that are actually written by a committee under his employ?  That was him, right?  Sounds like if that's your technique it shouldn't take too long to shit something out for a movie that won't be remembered
