I've enjoyed this show since the beginning, and I've stuck with it through the highs and lows…and will until the finale.  But what struck me as I watched tonight's episode is how much the extraordinary talent of the cast is underserved by the writing — and I think this has always been the source of my frustration.…

Exactly my reaction. I love how ballsy the writers are. I was afraid that their narrow survival after the time change meant that they would start playing it safe…because, well, no one wants to be unemployed. But they renewed my faith in television. Good for them.
