Running Man
I'd watch that every week.

Well played.

Yeah, that stuff is a little ridiculous. They can record it all via tin can telephone for how much it matters to me.

All right, that made me feel old…BUT your order is pretty spot on.

Kid's defending his house. You're all a bunch of nancies.

"might have been pushed to that action"
I'm surprised by that interpretation of the Mae storyline as talking about the circumstances that pushed her to leaving her family. When she had a few drinks and confessed to all the times she left and why she felt validated in leaving…I saw that scene as showing her as a

Mayor Quimby: "You people are nothing but a bunch of fickle mushheads!"

"How can one convicted criminal get so many votes, and another get so few?"

Ha!

Stutter
One of the big take aways I took from Still Bill was his long affliction with stuttering. I didn't realize that he had this problem, but you can't help but think that informs his song writing.

Did we see the same documentary???? I saw this a year ago at a theater, so maybe this is a different cut, but I didn't get this vibe at all.

Angry??!?!?
I don't get the comment or emphasis on the "angry at the suits or angry at himself," or portraying Withers as a guy who looks at his career with regret.

Can't we ignore these monsters until they turn up on Celebrity Rehab?
These are interesting times to be an Italian American from the Jersey Shore. These clowns dictate every "where are you from?" conversation ever since. People laugh, right in your face.

You, sir, have hurt my feelings.

How about Italian Americans from the Jersey Shore?
Every time I tell anyone where I grew up, they laugh in my face.

He also views himself as a protecter/hero type, haha.

Why should you only take what your given?
Why should you spend your whole life livin' trapped where they aint no future even at 17?
Breaking your back for someone else's sake…

1. The anthropological angle
I have to take note to the claim that by having only one person actually from the Jersey Shore, it is some how "embody something strangely pure about the state or at least our conception of it."

I recently bought Solarbabies expecting it to be unwatchable, and found it surprisingly engaging. If you were the right age, it could capture your imagination.

More along the lines of her son being born with birth defects.
