I saw this movie when I was eight and didn't realize it was intended as comedy - it scared the daylights out of me. Years later I suggested some friends rent it with me as a straight-up horror movie. Boy were we surprised.

He was pretty good in Lock, Stock, & Two Smoking Barrels. And the first Transporter movie was pretty fun. After that… diminishing returns.
Now all I can think of is a parade of porn stars in a fuzzy, hot pink coffle. Thanks, @avclub-738495a4c15ed8fbb236b5a754fa3c04:disqus!
I voted for that one. They better find a woman to sing it, though. I think I have a pretty decent range for a dude, and "Tracks of My Tears" beyond me.
Nor "Patience." Though I'd love to hear Jenn from Wye Oak croon her way through "One In A Million," really.
Hear hear. That Motown category was stacked.
Return of the Living Dead does a nice job of mixing the fairly horrific with plenty of funny. But I saw that one when I was eight, didn't realize it was a comedy, and it scared the life out of me, so I may be inclined to give me more credit to the scares than someone who saw it as an adult would.

It's the worst when the actual twist is something you joked about. That happened to me with Seven - I joked to my girlfriend that his wife's head was in the box. Then… it was. Really spoiled the movie for me, in more ways than one.
Yeah that was my sequence with "It." I read the book when I was 12 and loved it. The TV movie came out later - when I was in high school I think? - and I despised it. I think if you start with the book, it's hard not to be let down that the movie isn't as scary as your imagination.

On a related note, I found the scariest part of Contagion was the scene where Matt Damon watches some people break into his neighbors' house and gun them down, then take their stuff. It really forced you to think about just how bad shit would get if law and order ceased to exist, and how fast we could all end up in a…

Done.
My great-uncle was, too. He survived 40+ combat missions over Africa and southern Europe, then died test-flying a P-63 over California in October 1945. That's some shitty luck.
Those of you who enjoyed "Theef" would do well to check out F. Paul Wilson's short story "Cuts," which appeared in his collection "Soft and Other Stories" (the collection in general is good, even if you can see his rabid conservatism showing through in places). But hoo boy, "Cuts." It's nasty, brutish, and short.
I love you all so much.
"Months-long beef" is up there in the pantheon of great all-time Newswire lines, Sean. Bravissimo.
Yeah Google was suggesting much higher volume numbers. It's gotta be bullshit, but it's such specific bullshit, it makes me curious.
