I certainly don’t expect them to exemplary people all the time but I do expect them to be not so rapey. Not a high bar I think.

Yeah. Too many stories. First one I heard (2nd hand, so...) was a friend of my friend risking his acting job at the Vic to get between Spacey and a 13 yr old working in the show.
A buddy of mine went to Columbia Film School 10 years ago, and some of the circles in NYC had a lot of Spacey gossip in this vein.
I also know a guy who was his secretary until about 2 years ago. I got the impression he had the job because he was happy to, um, roll with the punches.
Suffice to say this has been an open…
This is a pretty clear-eyed, devastating account.
I, on the other hand, am very certain that I won’t be seeing it.
Am I the only one bothered by Call Me By Your Name? It looks very pretty and well done but the fact is a relationship between a 17 year old and an adult in his mid to late twenties is never healthy. There are unfair power dynamics there and romanticizing it makes me feel squicky.
how else would you describe the giant statues of women in sexual poses? No, for real - wasn’t that the point of them?
So the cut I watched only felt four hours long...?
They could have cut more, I think. Several scenes were noticeably longer than they needed to be, and I don’t think they even needed to show Niander Wallace.
I truly hope that one day we will hear a bit of Hector and his mom’s podcast.
“Now pack a damn pantsuit, BECAUSE YA NEVER KNOW!!” This is in also my packing philosophy, but with a bikini.
That’s interesting—I’m surprised they kept all the Darryl and White Josh stuff in. “Alright, we’ll keep the gay stuff, but no period sex! Ever!”
I appreciated the gratuitous shots at Joyce Carol Oates in this episode.
Not to forgive Rebecca for what she did to Paula, but when she was panic packing she believed nobody was really her friend. I could see how, if that is always buried away under the surface, she’d have less trouble critiquing Paula’s case in order to tank it. It removes the emotional and human connection.
Honestly, I don’t see what everyone else likes so much about his relationship with Darryl. Darryl can do better.
White Josh is judgmental, but I don’t think he’s especially clever, just not a moron like his friends. But an excuse to feel superior to someone? Sure, I can see him leaping on that.
I mean, Heather is always the gem of this show, but especially in her big solo moment. And as a student right now (albeit one who is two years away from graduating) I felt this so much.
How many starfish did she kill?
Maybe my least-liked ep of CXGF so far. Characters not behaving like themselves...
Yeah this is one of her lowest moments overall- she’s in this sort of wounded, defensive mode because she let Josh know too much so she’s lashing out all over to protect herself.
