Right; the plot made the characters interesting, so the ending, the idea that the characters were brought together, and meant to be together, rang so hollow. For example, somehow Sayid's entire romantic character arc with Nadia becomes a plot device for him to return to the island, (inexplicably) lose his accent, and

Interviews are all about consistency, and so if you're not asking questions about FJM consistently, then you can't, can't ever be consistently asking them later in the lineup. And asking FJM questions throughout the interview just clogs up the base paths of the interview, so you can't be as consistent as you want to
