Most of those animated movies coast on prior knowledge of characters that haven't been introduced yet, and they don't make much money, relatively speaking. It's a nice idea but those movies, translated to live action, would get horrible reviews.

I don't think it will ever stop being at least a little surprising to me that this is real. I remember being the right age for this show when it first showed up and thinking "Man, I can't believe other kids want to watch this cheap crap."

I guess… except the part about him doing a bad job was probably all in his head, that's the point. Not that it means he should have fled his own show.
