Maleev is cool.

yung superman

I still don't understand why I would care about an abiding hatred between two guys who have never met in the film series, simply because you've been able to buy merchandise for either of them for the last seventy-five years.

It's because Time Warner is trying to cash in on a relationship, Batman/Superman, that only exists as a sort of vague pop culture nebula at this point as relates to their actual movies. I don't like Marvel's movies as much as a lot of people do, but they earned the pathos in the trailer.

I think that just makes the point that much stronger. As in, "do you bleed" is laughable because what reason do audiences have to care that Batman hates Superman? They haven't met yet!

Why? Because that's what would happen "in real life"?

And the sad part to me is, World's Finest is a proven story. Sure, have Superman fight Batman… after they gain respect for each other.

it's basic to kill the ref

You may want to consider that none of this matters.

…you haven't read much by the article's writer, have you?

Dollars to doughnuts it involves someone losing a limb.

I feel like it wouldn't have been much of an issue if Bendis's own story hadn't ended in such a limp way (as you describe above). Marvel junkies might have been hungry for a series bridging the two, or at least as hungry as they are for Secret Wars.

It's true.

I also tried to hop onto the X-Men books with X-Cutioner's Song. I loved the cartoon Cable/Apocalypse story, and the Colicos/Blendick voice acting had a lot to do with it, but I also enjoyed the idea of the global Messiah as this grim hard-ass who was goddamn sick and tired of people getting in his way. I flipped

This article made me realize that there is no food scene in anything, ever, that has made me hungry.

I think people sometimes underestimate the toll of serialized pop fiction on writers with limited ideas and little thematic continuity. Bendis seems to have few ideas overall and no themes to connect them. People have ragged on Morrison for repeating himself, but he's at least able to make a point by doing it.

Excellent piece. I didn't look at the byline until I hit the first paragraph about Morrison's scripts, and then I knew who wrote it.

I thought this might be interesting, but instead it tried to be funny. Oh, well.

So they renamed Patsy Walker "Trish" and she tries to shoot herself? Didn't Marvel revive that character based solely on her innocent charm?

It's "Jones". Jessica Jones.
