I'm guessing I'm the only one that's offended by the rounding down of the Cretaceous/Tertiary boundary to 60 millions years from 65, then.

I've always thought Anansi Boys was very similar to a Dirk Gently novel. Same universe as American Gods, but with a sense of humour (and a ghost subplot straight out of DG's Holistic Detective Agency).

What about Dwayne Johnson for Shadow? He's supposed to be halfway decent at acting when he gets a good role.

Spiritualized at the time of Ladies and Gentleman was one of the best gigs I've ever seen. The orchestra-sized band line-up was impressive enough, but the high-point was a till-then-unseen gospel choir coming in halfway through the title track and turning it into a cover of "Can't Help Falling In Love".

The huge back catalogue is a curse as well as a blessing. I saw them at Glastonbury, and they played basically one song per album. Inevitable perhaps (and far more interesting to do that than, say, play all the singles of Out of Time and Automatic for the People), but you end up with a lot of your favourites getting
