Totally agree. Ferris Bueller is kind of a tourist view of Chicago.

I was coming here to say that - how do you not even MENTION The Blues Brothers???
Love Sven :)
Hard seltzers have grown on me (less White Claw, more the tequila or rum based ones), but I like plain water just fine, always have. Soda water is mostly good for adding to a mojito.
See, living in the burbs means there’s one about 15 minutes from me in Darien. (Sadly, the Addison location is closed.) You could also go to.... BERwyn!
I’m sure it was easy to mistype given the song, but it is Wonderwell, not Wonderwall.
I was gonna say, Tim Allen was literally a drug dealer.
There used to be just plain Peanut Butter Cheerios (and Kroger makes, or at least used to make, a knockoff version). They were great for dog treats. Can’t give a dog the chocolate/pb mix, but I like them.
Yeah, there are some perfectly good restaurants, but IMHO nothing that really shines or stands out beyond the quirk of Coney Island.
Yeah, at Disney my in-laws will often get a big suite with a kitchen and have breakfast and some lunch things there, but that’s not cooking, it’s cereal and sandwiches.
I live near Chicago now so I’m contractually obligated to say it’s better out here ;) But there is a pretty wide variety, that’s very true.
ha! I went to middle and high school there. There are some good local restaurants, and I feel like it’s gotten better in the past 20 years, but there’s not a lot of food that FW is really known for... Coney Island maybe.
Right - on the contrary, women who accuse men of assault or other creepy behavior often get pestered, harassed and generally treated like crap. Like name me ONE woman whose life got noticeably better after coming forward.
....are you from Fort Wayne?
I like to cook, but I relish the chance to try local restaurants when I travel, and to not have to plot out groceries and ingredients for a week. I also don’t usually travel the way Danny describes, in a big vacation rental house with family. My vacations with my in-laws have either been to Disney World or on a cruise.
I have a coworker/friend with celiac who takes it VERY seriously, and she only eats at Chipotle if she can go in person and ask them to change gloves, etc - even though as far as I can tell, the only gluten-containing thing in the place is the flour tortillas?
Oh please, there are people who never leave their square mile of Chicago neighborhood. I’ve seen a lot of the city and the region, I’ve explored a lot of neighborhoods, but I also can get excellent pizza close to home.
I’m sure Bob’s is great but I live in DuPage Co, I’m not driving to Hyde Park for pizza. There probably is somewhere closer that has something similar, and we get great local pizza regularly. I’m just saying if I were alone for the weekend and it were available nearby I could see myself ordering one of those.
I haven’t had Pizza Hut in I don’t even know how long - over 20 years probably - but I WOULD EAT THIS.
I have gotten booze (wine) delivered with a DoorDash order to a hotel, but it depends on the state and the restaurant. And yeah, I had to go meet them in the lobby and sign for it, but it wasn’t a huge deal.
