I highly doubt we're going to agree on this, but Milo was raised Catholic and is a practicing Catholic. He was sexually abused by a Catholic priest, fercryingoutloud. You can say that he's Jewish because his mother's mother is Jewish, and Maimonides might agree, but I don't. He has some Jewish ancestry. That is all.

Oh my, that logo is lovely. Still very unlikely I'll see this, but the odds just ticked up a bit.

One of the weird ironies of this turn of events is that Milo's "pedophilia" comments strike me as much less troubling than most of what comes out of his mouth. He ultimately got burned by taking on certain sexual taboos, which we can't allow, but of course no one gives a fuck about straight up racism and misogyny.

According to what I've seen, no, his mother isn't Jewish.

It honestly sickens me that people would be upset by this at all. This is how you get things done in the world: you find ways to constructively engage with people you don't like if you think you can find common ground around a worthy goal. Do people really not get this?

Fair play. I actually think the MCU is weightless summer fare, and the movies suffer from an utter lack of urgency because you know they're going to quip-punch their way through adversity. But obviously I'm in the minority. I did think it was sad when that agent guy died.

SLJ is awesome, but is he awesome in these movies? Not really. No memorable dialog or scenes that I can think of…

I thought the backbone of the MCU was defeating evil through quips and punches (quunches?).

I think Samuel L. Jackson's point is pretty much, "Give me some money." The fact that he's black and Black Panther is black isn't actually a really narratively compelling reason to include him in the movie.

But Winston Churchill's parrot is still alive:

It depressed me to hear that Milo might be a member of the tribe, so I checked in with Mr. Google. He has some Jewish ancestry, apparently in form of one grandmother, but was raised Catholic and as far as I can tell is a practicing Catholic. He sometimes describes himself as a gay Jew as part of his general trolling

I haven't read any of the books, but the casting of the show in general is fantastic. How about the Hound? And I really, really want to live in a universe where Charles Dance played Grand Moff Tarkin in Rogue One (and I didn't even hate the CGI version).

Because I'm a fan of action movies and they tend to be well reviewed, so I've given them multiple shots. But at this point, I generally don't watch them. I did see Doctor Strange, again because of the reviews and particularly because of the buzz around the visual effects. It wasn't terrible.

Yes, I really am.

I complained about nerds?

No, I am the kind of nerd who likes to share things I enjoy with others. But I have never been a comic book fan, even as a kid.

Not that kind of nerd, no.

You are seriously nitpicking typos here? The thought of running my AV Club comments through a spell checker before posting them is honestly a bit sad.

Yeah, the podcast is good. Lots of literal LOL moments, despite the fact that all the, um, difficult aspects of Gervais' personality are on display.

Yeah, pretty much I have, but a friend is who a dad and a nerd and never gets to see movies dragged me to Civil War. There was punching!
