What I loved about this episode was that it really took advantage of the time jump in its exploration of psychological themes. It was necessary to flashback to the moments that are triggering Jane's panic attacks, so we see both immediate and long-term reactions to Michael's death. Overall, the show continues to

Riverdale is Friendtopia

Got to add a few more:

That is awesome. Go Stephanie!

Just rewatched the episode… And Jane and Rafael's current relationship looked even better the second time around. Rafael shaking his head at Jane's reading was, while kind of hilarious, very touching, and the way they talked before and after was fantastic. I would say that, personally, I did feel the romantic

I just rewatched the opening scene with Jane and Alba on the bed… and you are right, a whole episode of sad scenes like that would have been extremely difficult to watch. I agree that this was a different, interesting portrayal of grief—perhaps more multifaceted and realistic—and it is smart to show how grief

And we're back to having way too much plot summary again, in what should be a critical review! I found little here in the way of interesting writing. Seriously, I wish we could stop with the useless recaps…

I just came from reading that TVLine review…that guy is not happy.

I think this is legit the longest AV Club review I've ever read. But I did read all of it, so…

I really like when JSU says "So much of the show is about how Jane has all of these hopes and dreams and romantic ideals and how life changes and challenges her"—that is exactly how I see it!

I feel a need to make sure Oliver is supported this week, especially because a) I said I didn't like last week's recap-y review and b) I'm sure a lot of people don't agree with his thoughts this week…

That is an optimistic view, thank you. I guess I agree; people are just responding to tragedy and will (hopefully) be able to come back. But even to that point, I just believe it's unfair to say people won't watch the show just because it's sad in this moment. I watch because I want to experience how these characters

Agree on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend; that show, underneath all of the amazing songs and jokes, is about how hard it can be to find happiness. Similarly, Jane the Virgin is based on dramatic material; there have always been some dark clouds hanging over it ever since Jane got inseminated, and that is just part of the show's

What New Yorker piece? I may have missed that.

It is disappointing to read here that people are going to stop watching the show because of Michael's death. Yes, it was a heartbreaking moment, but if you love the show, wouldn't you want to keep watching to root for Jane and everyone else to become better? As the creators of the show have stated, disrupting everyday

Not that I've experienced anything like this, but how else would she receive the news? It's not like the hospital would wait to tell her what happened until she arrives in person; it would be cruel to not tell her right away.

I think Jennie Snyder Urman's Tumblr letter explains everything really well, so try that for some answers.

Haha I was gonna say, the wig jobs this episode were especially distracting (I hadn't really had a problem with them in the past, but this week…wow)

I was just about to comment that this was probably Justin Baldoni's best episode yet. Something about his performances in the past made Rafael feel, I don't know, slightly nongenuine, but this week his emotions felt much more believable.

I know I'm in the minority with this after reading comments on recent OUAT reviews… But I am not a fan of these discussion posts. Or, at least, not in their current form. Is there a reason the reviewer isn't allowed to give a grade? And I lose a sense of the reviewer's critical opinion of the episode, which is why I
