Counterpoint, California sucks.
Counterpoint, California sucks.
That's a perfect description of those 3 books.
Wait, I thought the typical AV Club-punk-rock-loving commenter types liked Duff for having been in some well-regarded Seattle punk bands before GnR, no?
I'm torn - this looks really cool, but if I send the link to my wife, she'll want to go to Disneyland, whereas I'm happy going to Disney World and have no desire to go to California ever again. Or is this a relationship question that should be saved for Savage Dik?
Eh, I just don't like Ghostbusters but do like Ernie Hudson. Plus thinking about Ghostbusters always reminds me of the SNL skit where they ask who is your favorite Ghostbuster and Mary Gross(?) answers, "I like the black one."
I also hate Ferris Bueller's Day Off, but I hated that in the 80s. I liked Ghostbusters when it first came out.
I disagree. Watching the movie again I found the "humor" to be mostly juvenile, the script boring and the acting terrible. When Ernie Hudson's character is the best thing in the movie, you don't have much of a movie. (Not a dig against Ernie Hudson, he's always great - the problem I have is with Ackroyd and Ramis'…
In my defense, I was not a child when I first saw the movie. This seems like it's a prerequisite for movies like this, A Christmas Story, Goonies, Hook, etc. Most people that saw these first as adults realize how terrible they are.
~runs, hides~
That might be my favorite 30 Rock joke.
I (re)watched Ghostbusters recently. It's not a very good movie. ~ducks~
There's a study that showed the (in the US) any more than about $70K/yr fails to increase happiness. At that income level, you can live somewhat comfortably and that's really what needed - to not be stressing about bills, etc.
I'm older than most folks here, so I grew up with the Bill Cosby of "Chicken Heart" and "Why Is There Air." This shit is horrible. I'm listening to depressing Simon & Garfunkel songs to try and compensate. It's not helping…
I had a friend compare a parking ticket to rape recently. On his Facebook page, no less.
Oh, sure, if you're gonna be reasonable…
Yeah, I can buy that. It is my favorite Zep album. The Rain Song is my favorite Zep song as well, despite not being a 'happy' song.
Another answer might have been, "Set up the kit in the stairwell at Headley Grange," which is what, I believe is responsible for 80% of the sound.
Is that you, Warren Oates?
That's one of the few songs in Zep's catalog that could be considered cheery. I love it. There's that, The Ocean and the chorus from Celebration Day. Sure there's other upbeat things like Dancing Days, but they don't make me automatically cheer me up upon listening.
But isn't that more Andy Johns' micing and placement of the drums more than anything Bonham did? It's a pretty straightforward beat - it's the sound of the drums that's so epic.
I love that he's reading the paper as a British kid is eaten by a lion.
