I don't know if it works this way in all states, but I know that in RI, if the girl is over the age of consent, the parents (and/or the state) have no say — it's just plain legal. I know this because someone I know went through it - he was 29, she was 16 and the parents were livid, but the cops said there was nothing

I like Courtney more than I like Billy Corgan, so I'll believe her on this - all of his terrible songs (and I do think they are terrible) must be about her. She does seem like a pretty toxic person after all. He's an insufferable egomaniac, while she's an insufferable egomaniac who's also a hilarious train wreck.

Why not just listen to 'Rocks Off' by the Stones, instead of some pale indie knockoff of the Stones?

Now hold on a minute - I have an uncle who became a cop because he was a skinny kid who got beat up a lot in high school. I mean, if that's not someone that wants to serve the public, I don't know what is.

My brother just did the head gasket, timing belt and water pump on my son's car. Said he'd do it for $300. EVERYTHING that could possibly have gone wrong during the job did go wrong (including getting pulled over on the way to pick up a part and finding out his license was suspended). A two day job took, literally,

When I was out of work from 2009 to 2011, I had two job offers rescinded by the same company. Third time was the charm, though, and that company is my current employer. (It is also the company I was initially laid off from.)

Vai is but one example. I don't find Steely Dan or Al Di Meola particularly soulful either. And this applies to the non-famous grads of Berklee that I've run across. Buy, hey, this stuff's all subjective anyway.

I actually believe that it's smart to drop out of Berklee. That school seems to suck the soul out of some extremely talented musicians. Sure, Steve Vai is great technically, but has he ever played anything with feeling?

Perhaps you should just stay the hell out of my country, then.

It's the Gasoline Alley of radio shows.

Peter Sagal looks nothing like what I imagined. Note that Ira Glass, who is not seen, but only heard here, looks EXACTLY like what you'd picture him to look like.

I don't understand the hate for Death Proof. Granted, I love the dialog Tarantino writes so I'm biased, but it's not like the movie is terrible in the way, say, a Michael Bay movie is, yet folks around these parts seem to treat that way.

By the way, is your avatar inspired by Breakfast (as I've always assumed)?

While it is true that Sirens is his most conventional sci-fi, it was still radically different from all the other sci-fi I'd read up to that point. I would have a difficult time choosing a favorite between the others you mention (and God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater). That was a hell of a run, from Sirens through

Sirens of Titan is my favorite Vonnegut novel. It was the first Vonnegut I read, so that may have something to do with it. But after I read that book, I took all of my sci-fi paperbacks down to the book swap store (remember those?) and traded them for every Vonnegut they had.

Laphroaig.

Well, no blow job (the wife had a cold), but I did get a bottle of my favorite scotch. Hope yours was good, too.

I believe we have the same birthday, too (9/21)! So Happy Belated Birthday! Or not, if I don't know what the hell I'm talking about.

Insomnia's pretty bad this week. Was up at 4AM yesterday. Fell asleep about 10PM last night, but was then awake again at 11:00 and up until about 2. Then woke up at 5. On the plus side, I get to work early and get lots of hours in; on the minus side, I'm salaried, so that does me no good.

Wait - now I'm on their side. I'm not a dog person at all!
