I've heard his tone attributed to the MXR Distortion+ several times, but I don't buy it. That was my main pedal back 1980 and my tone, while it did probably suck, wasn't as sucky as Rhodes' either.

I hate Randy Rhodes' tone in general and especially on this song. His playing is always amazing, but what a god-awful tone.
Well, you can imagine, then, how those amps are at 52.
E.T.I. is my favorite song of all time, so there can never be too many versions of it. I tend to go back and forth on whether I like the CC version better than the AoF version, but that's usually rectified by hearing the AoF version - the outro solo is just amazing.
I've always been amazed at how close that version sounds to the original. Plus that version led to the Cult Classics album, which contains a killer version of E.T.I.
I initially thought this was another article about Staind and thought that they'd somehow triggered the Apocalypse by stopping that girl from getting groped.
I was always a Les-Paul-directly-into-a-100W-Marshall kind of guy. Later, I added a Digitech 2101 (for delay and reverb mostly). And now I mostly play the custom guitar I built, though I still have my Les Pauls.
After poking around on on the internet, I realized that the current Marshall that I have is a '76 with a master volume (it's got the rocker switches). Must have been thinking about one of the old amps I had.
I've got a couple of attenuators, including the Marshall Power Brake. They are a must for this and the old Ampeg v4B that I have. The problem with both of these is size and weight. I'm thinking of just getting a 75W Line-6 Spider combo so I can get good sounds without having to lug one of these behemoths around.
I've got a 1975 JMP 100W half stack. Now you're jealous.

Yeah, that's why Elmore James copyrighted "Dust My Broom" 15 years after Robert Johnson wrote it, because Zeppelin were the only ones that never gave people credit.
But when Led Zeppelin did it, everyone got pissed.
As much as I hate to say it, Woonsocket was unwise to let Walmart move to North Smithfield. That whole Walnut Hill area is doomed now.
I was at a BOC show once where we were let into the venue early and got to see the sound check. I can safely say that I'll never even be as good as Buck Dharma's guitar tech.
Back in the early 80s, when you couldn't get beer in RI on Sundays, we'd have to buy a case of warm 16 oz. Naragansett from my drummer's father. He worked at a bar and got the beer at cost. We paid $5 a case.
My wife actually bought the Shandy the other day to try it. She liked it. I found it meh.
Even as small as RI is, we could still be a 9 minute drive away. I'm in Blackstone, MA on the border with the lovely Woonsocket, RI.
As someone who lives literally two minutes from the RI border, I can say that Narragansett Lager is terrible.
The horn lines.
